Pretty Dumb Mistake (A song of spurned love and exaggeration)

(Verse 1: Girl's part)

I remember when we laughed
When we talked about the day
"You and me always together"
And forever we would stay

When we carved our own initials
Upon that withered tree
When we thought about the future
And how happy we would be

But you had a planned agenda
As a lie you had me fed
Even when we were together
I know that you had said,

(Chorus):

"I could say that I once loved you
But that would be a lie
I could probably win you back right now
But why would I even try?

Cuz you were only one more girl
With heart that I could break
I am glad this is so over
Just a pretty dumb mistake

(Verse 2: Guy's part)

Cuz I can't stand it when you laugh
But I like it when you cry
I don't wanna be "the one,"
I just wanna be a guy.

I just hate it when you draw
A stupid heart around our names
I've been here all before
But to me, you're all the same

I just checked you off a list
Just another pretty face
I could say I'll cry about it
But I know it's not the case.

(Verse 3: Girl's response)

And I knew that's how he thought of me
Just a body and a smile
Who would hang on his every word
And run with him every mile

In my heart he was the rhythmic beat
The blood within my veins
I always had high hopes for us
No losses; always gains.

And he knoew that I would never leave
that his heart I'd never break
But how stupid was I to get involved
In this pretty dumb mistake.
