So this is a new kind of poem for me...I generally don't write spiritual things, but hey, what the heck. It was inspired (at first) by my plane ride...and yea. :)
Can't let it show
But I can't let it hide
Should I scream for help?
Could I pull someone aside?
Should I tap on a shoulder?
"Can I talk to you, ma'am?
Can you hear my voice shake?
Do you see how scared I am?"
Don't walk away now--
Don't look and run away
I'm alone in this trying time
All I can do is pray.
Can You send down an angel
to fly me from this place
to bring me close to You
So I can see Your face?
I had forgotten all about You
had gathered dust upon Your book
But now I see You're always there
Just one trial's all it took.

Subtle Death
Scared for my life
barely able to breathe
gasping for a single breath
My mouth closes with nothing inside
My eyelids tightly embrace
My breathing becomes shorter
My muscles freeze-- all, but one--
My heart beats faster
faster and faster than ever
it jumps up and down within my chest
I can't tame it-- it's untameable
I can't stop it-- it's unstoppable
All this from a single conversation of your eyes and mine.

Disastrous World
What if there are no starts tonight,
Or the moon chooses not to glow?
What if the sun refuses to wake up,
Or the grass just doesn't grow?
What if this night stays on forever,
And the day never returns?
What if water lost all its wetness
And the flames all ceased to burn?
I'd keep on with living
Just like you would too
Cuz the rest of the world doesn't matter
When all I see is you.
[This was an alternate ending with an alternate ending :P :
Then I know it's cuz you're not here
Sitting close and holding tight
Cuz when we're here together
I hope day won't turn to night/ {I know everything's alright}]

Star Light, Star Bright
I felt like a star
burning bright from afar
I danced through the night
When I went on my flight
As I glowed like a flame
burning bright with no name
zooming so very fast
in a sky that's so vast
Stopped, and did I look
At this stranger who took
A long glance in my way
To sigh and to say,
"As a man, it's my duty
To tell you you're a beauty
And I hope you don't care
But I can't help but stare
I just love how you glow
And I want you to know
On you I did pray
I'd meet her someday
Now I am so sure
that you are that 'her.'"

The Passing Glance Chance
A passing glance
from his eyes to hers
A simple "hello"
from his deep-voiced throat
A gentle curl
on her lip's edge
A slight giggle
from the beat in her chest
A shaky hand
held only by another
A warm embrace
to remember him
A lonely bent knee
facing the girl
A four-worded question
with a hopeful look
A long walk down an aisle
toward the rest of their lives
A single tear
happily rolling down his cheek
A new happy life
just from a passing glance.

Roller Coaster Ride
Euphoria
Gently rising
Always hoping
For that sweet moment of...
Ecstasy
Finally arrived
Always waiting
Always just enough
On top of the world until...
Hopelessness
Slowly plummeting
Gradually accelerating
Again arriving
Finally ending
When you come to a halting...
Stop.

Run
I've always had the legs to run
in the daylight and the night
They've carried me through thick and thin
through the good times and the fights
I've had some heavy burdens
Ones that make the strong ones lame
But I started to rise again
When I saw you felt the same
You gave me more than strength
And you didn't even try
Although you didn't even know
You gave me wings to fly
You lifted me back to my feet
And showed me how to move
But as my strength is now returning
I've found I lack the love
I'm so grateful for your loving care
And all the things you've done
But now that I have my strength
Should I fly... or should I run?

> A Number (More than A Number)
I'm not some meat
that you can grade
It's not 'your cut'
I'm sad I have not made
If you looked with your eyes
past grades "A," "B," or "C"
you'd see I'm not a number
There's so much more to me
I have a heart and a brain
Beyond this transient skin
So I should not be graded
based on 'ugly,' 'fat,' or 'thin'
I'm not a Roman goddess
So I hope you get the jist--
I'm a breathing human being
Not a number on a list.

Pretty Dumb Mistake (A song of spurned love and exaggeration)
(Verse 1: Girl's part)
I remember when we laughed
When we talked about the day
"You and me always together"
And forever we would stay
When we carved our own initials
Upon that withered tree
When we thought about the future
And how happy we would be
But you had a planned agenda
As a lie you had me fed
Even when we were together
I know that you had said,
"I could say that I once loved you
But that would be a lie
I could probably win you back right now
But why would I even try?
Cuz you were only one more girl
With heart that I could break
I am glad this is so over
Just a pretty dumb mistake
(Verse 2: Guy's part)
Cuz I can't stand it when you laugh
But I like it when you cry
I don't wanna be "the one,"
I just wanna be a guy.
I just hate it when you draw
A stupid heart around our names
I've been here all before
But to me, you're all the same
I just checked you off a list
Just another pretty face
I could say I'll cry about it
But I know it's not the case.
(Verse 3: Girl's response)
And I knew that's how he thought of me
Just a body and a smile
Who would hang on his every word
And run with him every mile
In my heart he was the rhythmic beat
The blood within my veins
I always had high hopes for us
No losses; always gains.
And he knoew that I would never leave
that his heart I'd never break
But how stupid was I to get involved
In this pretty dumb mistake.

Random Blurbs.
First Post. Hurrah. So here goes with some poetry from yester-year (well, this school year):
(sorry-- I didn't really write titles on them. Each poem is separated by the dashes-- and some of them could still be worked on. I entered them as is/as they have been on my computer.)
it hurts to sing the same ol' songs
And it hurts that our talks aren't the same as they once were
And it kills to know that i'm the one waiting up for you
thinking you would never wait like that for me
i'm still waiting for you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
the tie between my heart and mind is somewhat frayed
I am so tired of my heart and tired of being played
I thought I had it all together when you gazed into my eyes
But just like the other times, it all turned into lies.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i wonder if i'll ever be good enough
and i question why i care
why i waste so much energy on you
and all those times that you weren't there
----------------------------------------------------------------------
frostbitten heart
if you touch it, it'll shatter
frostbitten love
if you break it, it won't matter
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And from just that simple look, I'm a little weak
I say words upon words to everyone; but with you i can hardly speak
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i'm gone with a glance
just wishing for that single chance
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you're the words to this song
your the thoughts in my head
you're the image in my deepest dreams
You're the things that have been said
you're the hero to my fallen world
i'm your damsel in distress
you're the breath within my breathing lungs
i'm the beat within your chest
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And her eyes lit up with a smile;
And her face beamed like the sun
When he walked into that lonely room
And told her she's the one.
And from that room he walked away
With that same light in his eye.
He went away knowing she was his;
And he’d always be her guy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
On the outside I am fine
like i don't even care
on the outside I don't mind
that you are never there
on the outside i don't let my stupid emotions flow
it really seems like i have truly let you go
...but that's because it's on the outside.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Feeling like I'm breaking
from the inside going out
it's the way that you loved me once
i'm afraid to live without
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Blinking in disbelief
wanting to tear myself from this dream
that you walked out on me now
it makes me want to scream
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I watch you as you smile and enjoy your perfect day
as you laugh at all the little things your closest friends all say
and i see how you wave and laugh with that one over there
and i find it in my deepest self that it really isn't fair
this isn't how my life is supposed to be
that one over there should really be me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
fighting against what they say
not wanting it to go my way
confusing is what i truly find--
it's being wrong that i don't mind.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
She fell for a fool
he couldn't really see
the greatness and the beauty
that was surely she
he looked on thru that porcelain face
past those emerald eyes
above those wavy reddish locks
away from the inset lies
that she was good enough for him
or anyone she could see
But then she realized the final truth:
"The fool was really me."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
and there's a tear-shaped memory
where i thought of you last night
